BIOGRAPHY
Coach Marotske started playing in college at the University of St. Thomas and quickly found his place at the face-off x. Coach Marotske fell into his first head coaching role accidently when he showed up at a practice to help Academy of Holy Angels and the head coach no-showed. He hasn’t looked back, establishing North Suburban Lacrosse Club (Irondale and Mounds View) in 2000 and was hired as the first varsity lacrosse coach in the state of MN by The Blake School in 2001. While at Blake the program posted a 65-16 record, four conference championships, four state tournament appearances and two championships.
Coach Marotske also founded the states first true travel program geared towards the college recruitment of the states best lacrosse players. MN Elite posted a 66-9 record from 2004 to 2006 and won seven of the most elite summer tournaments at the time including the first team west of Philadelphia to win the prestigious Battle of the Hotbeds.
His players have been recognized as All-American over a dozen times, over 40 All-State recipients and many have gone on to play at the highest levels collegiately and professionally.
He feels truly blessed to have coached and built friendships with some of the best lacrosse players to ever come out the state
Philosophy
Coach Marotske takes a lot of pride in the relationships he’s established over the last 20 years. Many of today's coaches and officials have crossed paths with Coach Marotske over the years as players and opponents. He believes the experiences players have on the field will help prepare them for life after high school. While his competitive spirit is second to none, it's the lessons and relationships that stand out. His goal is to establish a program of excellence on and off the field, that the community will be proud of while establishing a love and passion for the sport of lacrosse that lasts a lifetime.
He believes a winning program is established by mastering the fundamentals of the sport and leveraging a team's strengths. You will often hear him shout “head, feet, stick” on defense, “two hands” on ground balls and “shoot overhand”. He’ll happily discuss these fundamentals any time! Finally, his programs have historically had one of the, if not the, strongest strengths of schedules in the league. He believes to establish yourself as the best you must consistently play against the best. His coaching values have been purposefully expressed through the new One South values and vision statement; Passion, Accountability, Community and Team.

I seek to find harmony between hard work and having fun in my coaching. Lacrosse is a sport that requires a disciplined technique, a high sports IQ, and a fiery competitive spirit. As the defensive coordinator for Lakeville South, I’ve tried to inspire a love for defense while teaching the fundamentals and helping players meet their goals. In addition, I have experience program building with Coach Hank during my time with the St. Olaf Lacrosse Club. I hope to bring some of those lessons we learned about setting a program structure, fostering a team-first culture, and developing high-character student athletes to Lakeville South.

I have been truly committed to giving back to the game I love, and the game that has given me so much. I have worked with various youth programs in the past but have never found more joy than coaching high school players and especially here at Lakeville South.
Outside of lacrosse, I am married to my beautiful wife Mikayla and we have two undiagnosed psychotic Australian Shepherds who constantly want to herd small animals and/or children. I have been employed by the Department of Public Safety since 2015. I also enjoy playing hockey, mercilessly destroying kids online at FIFA and recently discovered the underground world of extremely amateur broomball.

I decided to go away from the normal of heading to college and started working in plumbing. Started part time summer of 2016 and went full time ever since I graduated.
My coaching is backed up by having 4 years of starting varsity playing time. I specialize in defense focusing on footwork, general lacrosse IQ, athleticism, ball handling skills, and stick/body positioning.
This is my second year coaching at the JV level and I really enjoy it. My favorite lacrosse quote is “When you don’t have to worry about your stick, that’s when you become a better lacrosse player”

BIOGRAPHY
I graduated from Lakeville South in 2016 and am currently studying biochemistry at the University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Aside from lacrosse, I enjoy outdoor activities like fishing and skiing. I am also a hockey fan, so I enjoy watching the Gophers and Wild in addition to the state high school tournament every year.
Thanks to the support of my biology teacher at the time, Coach Bob Currie, I began coaching LLA U12 lacrosse in 2016 with South Alumni Mason Kohlbeck and Bryce Polson. Since then I have loved teaching the game to youth players and watching them grow in the game.
My belief, as a coach, is to progressively teach players elements of the game by moving from fundamentals to more detailed components such as field awareness and positioning. I also believe that skills in lacrosse, like communication and team work, are not restricted to a playing field; they can be applied to school and jobs to foster success in a player’s life.

Coaching Philosophy: I seek to create a positive program culture conducive of player personal growth both on and off the field as well as to provide each player the fundamentals necessary for success while allowing them to develop personal style and achieve their true potential. I always encourage a practice environment in which mutual respect and effort is established between player and coach. I emphasize that making mistakes is okay as long as player's learn from their mistakes.
